USTS is a field hockey club in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, between Geneva and Lausanne. Xavier Santolaria, its sport director, puts the club's purpose simply: "At USTS, everything we do is about the development and growth of our teams and players."
Indoor hockey is often viewed as a niche winter sport: smaller courts, boards, and short leagues. Many programs treat it as a seasonal diversion rather than a core part of development.
Video analysis is no longer the preserve of elite athletes. It is becoming a game-changer at the youth level, especially in a fast-paced and tactical sport like field hockey.
A group of kids arrives early for training. Instead of waiting around, they set up a mini-game with cones as goals, sticks that don't match and rules they invent on the fly.
